Delegates from around the world arrived in Kazakhstan on Sunday to begin discussing Syria peace talks, which are brokered by Turkey and Russia. Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry spokesman Anuar Zhainakov confirmed the Syrian opposition delegation arrived ahead of the talks, CNN reported. "I can confirm that the delegations from Russia, Turkey, Iran, (UN Special Envoy for Syria) Staffan de Mistura and the Syrian opposition delegation are all in Astana already," Zhainakov told CNN. Members of Syria's government are expected to be arriving later. Syria's brutal civil war has been ongoing for nearly six years, leaving about 400,000 dead and hundreds of thousands more displaced.
