As protesters across the globe marched yesterday for the #WomensMarch, we want to draw your attention to a story from Pakistan that by and large went ignored by most of the human rights activists in the country. Zohra bibi, a poor woman and an ailing resident of Kasur lost her life as her children ran desperately from hospital to hospital trying to find some government hospital that would give her space, but not even one was available. Not even one bed in Jinnnah hospital Lahore where she eventually succumbed to her ailment and died in front of her children on the floor of the hospital waiting for a bed.

To everyone from Pakistan lauding the women who are marching today, we ask you to rise up the same way for the thousands of Zohra bibis across the country who face these situations because of poverty on a daily basis. Let's not be blind to the suffering and agony of being a woman and being poor in Pakistan that even your death does not get the dignity of a hospital bed. Wake up and stand up for our own Pakistan.
