In many ways, the TIE Bomber is a better entry-level ship for this obstacle course. Because of its slower speed, you don't have to worry so much about throttle control (I basically went full throttle the entire way through), and you'll have more time to plan and aim your shots. You may also notice that in the TIE Bomber there's only a difference of 5kph between maintenance level and increased laser recharge, but in later and more challenging levels of the course every little bit helps through empty chambers. The laser turrets are positioned a little differently than on a TIE Fighter, so I recommend dual-fire cannons, unless you can adapt to the spread quickly.
Because of its slow speed, you won't be barreling through later levels of the course like you can in the Interceptor, Advanced or Defender. Instead, you'll have to rely on the bonus time from all the obstacles in your path.
