GREENWICH, CONNECTICUT — A councilman in Greenwich, Connecticut was arrested last week for sexually assaulting a female public employee on Dec. 8.
According to the arrest warrant cited by the Greenwich Daily Voice, Christopher von Keyserling, 71, and the unnamed 57-year-old woman were talking about politics. He reportedly told her: “I love this new world, I no longer have to be politically correct,” and called her a “lazy, bloodsucking union employee.”
She claims she responded by saying, “(explicative deleted) you” before walking into her office. When she tried to leave, he allegedly reached from behind and pinched her groin. The employee said she threatened to punch him if he ever did it again, but he allegedly responded with an “evil look” and said nobody would believe her because it would be her word against his.
The woman claims she reported him to HR but originally not want to press charges because she feared retribution. She later changed her mind after learning he had committed similar acts in the past.
Von Keyserling said the whole thing was “just a joke.” He expressed surprise that the woman took offense, because he thought they had the kind of relationship that allowed him to joke around like that, Greenwich Daily Voice reported.
But the police thought otherwise. Von Keyserling was arrested last Wednesday and charged with fourth-degree sexual assault.
He posted $2,500 bond and is due to appear in court on Jan. 25.
