Recent comments by Tommy Hunter, a commissioner in Gwinnett County, Georgia, sparked criticism after he called John Lewis a "racist pig."

Donald Trump recently went on a Twitter tirade against Rep. John Lewis following the Congressman’s assertion that Trump is not a 'legitimate' president.
Trump was not the only one lashing out at the man many consider to be an American hero.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that on Saturday, Tommy Hunter, a commissioner in Gwinnett County, Georgia, wrote on Facebook, “John Lewis is a racist pig. There ain’t one political pundit that didn’t say on November 9 that this would be Demonrats EXACT response to Trump winning…”
One day later, Hunter posted, “John Lewis’ district is drawn to keep him in power. His wins are all illegitimate.”
The ‘racist pig’ post has since disappeared, but there are still plenty of screenshots making the social media rounds.
While reactions to Hunter's comments have been mixed, Democrats in the state have asked for his resignation, notes the Gwinnett Daily Post.
Controversy started when during an interview with NBC News’ 'Meet the Press,' Lewis, a Democratic representative from Georgia, expressed doubts about Trump’s legitimacy as the next leader of the U.S.
Lewis said, “I don't see this president-elect as a legitimate president...I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.”
