\r
The exceptional timelapse video has captured the moment of moulting of one of the most fearsome-looking arachnids around, a heterothele gabonensis, one of the tarantula family.\r
\r
Filmed in Oklahoma, USA on Friday September 16, the amazing process even shows the spider as the new legs travel through the old skin.\r
\r
The pet arachnid, a mature male, is juddering and shaking as the film starts, then separates from its old body.\r
\r
\r
After the moulting, the creatures old exoskeleton lies still, looking as if it might move at any moment.\r
\r
According to Tarantula Guide , moulting is a process which all tarantulas go though as they grow, but it is a very difficult and strenuous experience for spiders.\r
\r
\r
As in the video, they explains that tarantulas will lie on their back and appear as if they are dead when they are ready to moult.\r
\r
If you look inside your pets cage and notice your spider on its back do not be alarmed. Just leave it be and do not disturb the spider.\r
\r
Disturbing your tarantula during the moulting process could result in its death. The molting process can take anywhere from fifteen minutes to several hours.\r
\r
Once tarantula have emerged from their old skin, they will be extremely soft, tender and sensitive.\r
\r
\r
If you handle your tarantula, do not do so for at least a week after it has moulted. Make sure the spider has fresh water do not attempt to feed your spider for at least three days after moulting.\r
\r
\r
\r
A cricket can possibly harm or injure your tarantula if not enough time is given for your pets skin to harden.\r
\r
Any tarantulas legs which are missing can be regenerated by the process, although it may not have all the function of the original.
