SYDNEY — Police have arrested a woman after a vicious attack on two customers inside a 7-Eleven with an axe.

On January 7, Evie Amati, 24, strolled into the convenience store, carrying an axe, as well as a knife in her back pocket. Meanwhile at the register, customer Sharon Hacker, 43, was pulling money from her purse, with customer Ben Rimmer, 32, waiting behind her in line with a meat pie.

When Amati walked over to Rimmer with the axe in hand, he reportedly thought she was kidding around. Seconds later when he turned away, Amati started swinging. After laying Rimmer out, blood gushing everywhere, Amati turned her attention to Sharon Hacker, and clubbed her in the back of the head with the axe. Her victims on the ground, Amati then casually walked out of the store. It wasn’t long before police caught up to her.

Luckily, both customers survived the attack, though Ben Rimmer’s face had been opened up. A witness present said his blood was all over the store of the floor. He remains in hospital with serious head injuries. Sharon Hacker suffered a fractured skull, but she claims her thick dreadlocks may have prevented further injury.

Evie Amati has been charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
