A dolphin stranded on a beach was heroically saved by three men who raced to get it back into the water.\r

The animal was thrashing about on the sand as the three beach goers raced over to help.\r
\r
They dragged the animal back out to deeper waters by its tail and watched as it swam off back to safety.\r
\r
The rescue operation took place on El Maviri beach in the western Mexican state of Sinaloa.\r
\r
A man recording the scene is heard speaking to someone called Alfredo and can be heard asking him to rescue it and to lift it a bit so he can drag it back out into the water.\r
\r
He shouts: Drag it, drag it, to the back as three bathers are filmed pulling it to deeper water.\r
\r
Someone else can then be heard saying: Poor animal, it cannot breathe.\r
\r
But the rescue effort worked because as the video shows they managed to help the dolphin get to deeper waters where it eventually swam off.\r
\r
\r
Their actions were praised by those watching who can be heard cheering and clapping in the footage.\r
\r
It is unclear what kind of dolphin it was and why it ended up on the beach.\r

In the past, dolphins have been known to end up stranded on beaches due to any number of potential factors, including being sent off course by sonar and getting infections that interfere with their sense of direction.
