Addressing the hacking activity prior to the U.S. election, President-elect Donald Trump has lashed out at DNC for being "careless."
Wednesday morning, his tweet referred to Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta's email hack. Emails from Podesta's account were leaked after hackers reportedly gained access following a phishing email.
Trump tweeted, "Julian Assange said 'a 14 year old could have hacked Podesta' - why was DNC so careless? Also said Russians did not give him the info!"
In a recent interview with Fox News, Julian Assange had commented, “We published several…emails which show Podesta responding to a phishing email...Podesta gave out that his password was the word ‘password.’ His own staff said this email that you’ve received, this is totally legitimate. So, this is something…a 14-year-old kid could have hacked Podesta that way.”
Trump further tweeted on Wednesday, "Somebody hacked the DNC but why did they not have 'hacking defense' like the RNC has and why have they not responded to the terrible things they did and said (like giving the questions to the debate to H). A total double standard! Media, as usual, gave them a pass."
Last week, the Obama administration announced various actions it is taking against Russia for its alleged attempt to manipulate the outcome of the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
They include removing 35 members of Russian intelligence from the U.S. and imposing sanctions on a variety of government-related individuals and groups.
