‘Star Wars’ actress Carrie Fisher has died aged 60 – days after suffering a cardiac arrest.

In hospital in Los Angeles since last Friday, the star, best known for her role as Princess Leia in the cinematic space saga, was taken ill on a flight from London.

Last month, she disclosed she had had a love affair with her ‘Star Wars’ co-star Harrison Ford 40 years ago.

Born to Hollywood power couple, movie star Debbie Reynolds and entertainer Eddie Fisher, she was only 19 when she rocketed to international stardom in the first ‘Star Wars’ film in 1977.

Such was the impact she made, even world leaders are reacting – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeting: “We’ll never forget you, Carrie. May the Force be with you always.”

Fisher returned to ‘Star Wars’ last year in Disney’s ‘The Force Awakens’. Cinema-goers in New York City gave their reaction to her death.

“Princess Leia was one of my first childhood crushes, as I’m sure with many of us,” said Steven Narvaez.

“It was so great seeing ‘The Force Awakens’. You know I just feel really sad.”

“The princess is gone. There will be nobody like her ever again. Leia lives in everybody’s hearts and everybody’s soul and it has taken us into the future and beyond. She will be missed,” another man added.

Famously open about her addiction and mental health issues, Carrie Fisher had finished filming for Star Wars Episode VIII, due for release next December.
