Two biological pathways and a couple dozen genes have been discovered to cause schizophrenia. The scientists at the University of California Los Angeles who made this discovery believe this will lead them to better treatments for the disease. Dr. Daniel Geschwind, a lead researcher, stated, “This work provides a road map for understanding how common genetic variation associated with a complex disease affects specific genes and pathways.”
