After creating major hysteria with his 1990 blockbuster hit 'Aashiqui', Mahesh Bhatt is now all set to recreate history with the film's sequel 'Aashiqui 2'. While Bhatt directed the first edition of the franchise, his production house is producing the second installment.
At the music launch of the film the veteran filmmaker claimed that 'Aashiqui 2' is much better than the Rahul Roy-Anu Agarwal starrer. "For 'Aashiqui 2' I must give credit to my director Mohit Suri, who has discovered his voice with this film and he has come into his own. I must pay my tribute to my writer Shagufta Rafique who has pulled out this narrative from her heart and done something which is not easy and of course the music directors Mithoon, Jeet Ganguli and Ankit Tiwari," he stated.
"They have done something that was unimaginable and let me say without any hesitation 'Aashiqui 2' is a thousand times superior product to what I could achieve in 1990. It's a generation which is more intense, more cinema literate and more grown up. So in 'Aashiqui 2' you will see the frequency of the human heart which you have not touched and seen on the Indian screen, yet," he further added.
Starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, 'Aashqui 2' is slated to hit the theaters on April 26, this year.
