Many condemned the Fox News personality for reporting while wearing a spaghetti-strap dress in July.
Kelly still stands by the attire decision.
In an interview with the New York Times published on Saturday, Kelly comments, “It was a lovely dress. A convention is a kind of free-form extravaganza, and there are certain settings where you can take risks. So I just thought: ‘Yes, I can do this. I can be smart and challenging while I wear spaghetti straps, and everyone is just going to have to get their heads around that.’”
In response to the many who did not, in fact ‘get their heads around that,’ Kelly doubled down on the dress, wearing it again.
Said Kelly, “I felt very strongly, I was not going to be defined by what someone else deemed appropriate.”
