Russia's ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov, was taken to a hospital in Ankara on Monday (December 19) after being shot in an art gallery.
Karlov has since died of his wounds, the Turkish capital, Russia's state-run RIA news agency reported, citing an unnamed source.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also told reporters that Karlov had died after being shot by a gunman.
