On Monday night, President Obama told Trevor Noah of ‘The Daily Show’ that he will “say something” to the new administration in certain instances.

On Monday night, President Obama told Trevor Noah of Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show' that though he believes it’s important to give the new administration time to settle in, he will “say something” in certain instances.
Obama said to Noah, “If I thought a Muslim registry was being set up that violates the Constitution, violates who we are, and would make us less safe because it would make it easier for groups like [ISIS] to recruit and radicalize homegrown terrorists, I might have to say something about that.”
The president went on to express his intention to also step forward in the event other vulnerable groups are targeted.
He noted, “If I saw DREAM Act kids, young people who were brought here as children, who are, for all intents and purposes, Americans, suddenly being rounded up contrary to who we are as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants I might have to say something about that.”
Back in November, he had expressed similar thoughts during a press conference in Lima, Peru, "As an American citizen who cares deeply about our country, if there are issues that have less to do with the specifics of some legislative proposal but go to core questions about our values and our ideals, and if I think that it is necessary or helpful for me to defend those ideals, then I'll examine it when it comes..."
However, during the interview with Noah, Obama did note that he intends to take a bit of a break.
He commented, “I think it is important for me to recharge. I think it’s important for me to reflect. It’s important for me to get back in my wife’s good graces.”
