During an interview with Chris Wallace on 'Fox News Sunday,' Donald Trump slammed a CIA report that Russia intervened in the 2016 presidential election to help him win.
Trump said, "I think it's ridiculous...It's just another excuse. I don't believe it...Every week it's another excuse. We had a massive landslide victory, as you know, in the Electoral College.”
When pressed on his response, he continued, "There's great confusion, nobody really knows. And hacking is very interesting. Once they hack, if you don't catch them in the act you're not going to catch them. They have no idea if it's Russia or China or somebody. It could be somebody sitting in a bed some place.”
The Washington Post reported on Friday, "Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and others, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, according to U.S. officials. Those officials described the individuals as actors known to the intelligence community and part of a wider Russian operation to boost Trump and hurt Clinton’s chances."
Back in October, a joint press release by the department of homeland security and direct of national intelligence on election security also stated, “The U.S. Intelligence Community...is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails from US persons and institutions, including from US political organizations…These thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the US election process.”
