Passions went into overdrive in Taiwan’s parliament when an amendment was passed to reduce public holidays by seven days.

The debate brought stormy scenes in the chamber.

Politicians from rival parties got physical as one side argued for a delay while the other disagreed.

Several lawmakers were injured in the scuffle on Tuesday afternoon and three were even taken to hospital.

Weekly days-off and overtime payments will also be affected.
