"Academic doping" is on the rise in the "high-pressure world of academic achievement." Students are increasingly abusing drugs used to treat ADHD, such as Adderal and Ritalin, in order to stay focused and manage their heavy workloads. One student called it "regulated speed" that just helps "you get locked down." Another student said that students are sharing their prescriptions and that everyone sees it as "absolutely harmless." Students say the drug is "everywhere" and that everyone they know is taking something. Stimulants have always been abused by college students but what's new is the amount of students abusing them, with one study finding that 30% of college students are using non-medicated stimulants.
