Babies, once they get hold of a pen, will make lines and waves that if put on a paper or appropriate surface, it is delightful to see. But I guess all moms experienced getting to a point where you are confused whether to smile or pout when you see your wall filled with pen marks - the wall artwork of your little one. I remember my daughter had created a really (messy) big "artwork" on our wall with a permanent marker when she was 18 months, same age as Michael here.
