On Tuesday morning, Trump aide Kellyanne Conway announced that Donald Trump will not attempt to bring charges against Hillary Clinton, reports Politico.
The news is proving particularly tough for some of his supporters to take.
According to the Washington Post, among them is Breitbart, a publication that championed Trump throughout his campaign.
Breitbart's report on the decision is titled, “BROKEN PROMISE: TRUMP 'DOESN'T WISH TO PURSUE' CLINTON EMAIL CHARGES.”
Twitter is also ablaze with outrage.
Conservative commentator Ann Coulter wrote, “Whoa! I thought we elected @realDonaldTrump president. Did we make him the FBI, & DOJ? His job is to pick those guys, not do their jobs.”
A similarly enraged Twitter user commented, “No to put Clinton in jail [is] YOUR FIRST MISTAKE! You ran on that, & some of us voted on it. LOCK HER UP!”
Not long ago, Trump in the midst of a presidential debate said to Clinton, “…if I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation because there has never been so many lies, so much deception.”
