Vehicle pile-up in China leaves 17 people dead, 37 injured

More than 50 vehicles were involved in a massive pile-up due to snow on an expressway in north China’s Shanxi Province. The collision, involving 56 cars, left 17 people dead and 37 injured, who are all in stable condition, according to local police. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, where most of the vehicles involved were large trucks. Car accidents are extremely common in China, killing 200,000 people each year, according to the World Health Organization.
