President-elect Donald Trump is in the process of selecting top members for his administration, and his latest choices have prompted a well-known Democratic strategist to refer to them as a “Monster’s Ball,” reports The Hill.
David Axelrod, a senior political commentator for CNN, issued a series of tweets on Friday critiquing Trump’s picks.
Axelrod first wrote about the attorney general position, stating, “[Donald Trump] is dancing [with] crowd that brought him. [Senator Jeff Sessions] as AG will send chills to advocates of civil and immigrant rights.”
He then posted about the National Security Council, noting that the “appointment of [General] Flynn at NSC may cheer Putin and Erdogan but adds a volcanic mix to the national security stew.”
Axelrod continued with the tweet, “[appointment] of [Representative Mike] Pompeo [as CIA director] will alarm both civil libertarians and intelligence pros, putting a right-wing pol at helm of CIA.”
He concluded the series by writing that “[Donald Trump] is sticking with those who brought him to the dance but to many Americans, it will seem a Monster's Ball.”
The Hill is reporting that other democrats and liberal groups have also spoken out against these selections.
