Ellen DeGeneres is all about spreading the love, which is why when she gets recognzied for her amazing career and advocacy work, we all rejoice.
DeGeneres will be joining 20 other honorees to accept the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civil honor.
"In 1997, after coming out herself, DeGeneres made TV history when her character on Ellen revealed she was a lesbian.
In her work and in her life, she has been a passionate advocate for equality and fairness," The White House statement said.
