Senator Bernie Sanders called on President Obama to take action, by declaring Standing Rock a national monument and stopping the Dakota Access Pipeline. The former presidential candidate spoke at the "Day of Action" rally in Washington D.C., where thousands of people gathered to show their support for Standing Rock. "So we say to President Obama, in any and every way you can, stop the pipeline. ... And if there are other approaches, such as declaring Standing Rock a federal monument, let's do that," Sanders said at the rally. Thousands of #NoDAPL activists rallied across the country a day after President Barack Obama's administration delayed granting a permit needed to complete the pipeline project.
