Calls to crisis, suicide hotlines surge 3X more post election

Moments after the election results were announced, crisis and suicide hotlines received three times more calls than normally. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline received more than 600 calls alone between 1:00 to 2:00 a.m., according to the lifeline's director John Draper. The last time there was such a surge in calls was after the 9/11 terror attacks, Draper told CNN. "I can't say I've seen anything like this...and it's certainly not something I've ever seen in an election," Draper said in a CNN interview.
