Elon Musk has, in the past, said that the day when robots and artificial intelligence take over most jobs may come sooner than many think.
According to Gizmodo, Musk recently addressed the matter of how, if and when that comes to pass, people are going to make a living.
The billionaire told CNBC, “There is a pretty good chance we end up with a universal basic income, or something like that. Yeah, I am not sure what else one would do. I think that is what would happen."
So what does a world where the masses simultaneously have money and leisure time look like?
For Musk, it’s one where, “People will have time to do other things, more complex things, more interesting things."
As for the ease with which such an arrangement would be adopted, President Obama recently told WIRED, “Whether a universal income is the right model — is it gonna be accepted by a broad base of people? — that's a debate that we'll be having over the next 10 or 20 years."
