transcript of video:
This is Paul Carrick Brunson, with Ask YourTango, answering all of your love and relationship questions.

"I recently lost 55 lbs. I am still on the chunky side, and still working on my figure. My skinnier friends can pick up guys left and right, but I can't. Please help."

The very first response that I have is that I see that you have several friends that are skinny, and it appears you go out with your skinny friends, and, you know, you guys go out and pick up guys.

The very first move is stop going out with your skinny girlfriends. There are two reasons for this.

One reason is that it's very, very daunting for a man to approach a pack of woman, the entire group of woman. So that in itself is going to lower your odds in being picked up.

Secondly, we live in a society that still places a huge amount of value on skinny, slim (etc). Now I know that we see some more of the curvier, Kim Kardashian type women gracing the covers of our magazines.

I think that's shaping the paradigm but, let's fact it, Kim Kardashian is skinny.

But that's the society that we live in.

So if you are constantly being pegged against your friends that fit this category, the obvious move to me here is to distance yourself, at least when you're specifically going out looking for guys.

But, more important, you have to be in love with yourself, you have to be in love with your image. Whoever that is. However many curves you have.

Do you love your image? If the answer is yes, I guarantee you you'll find the Mr. Right out there that loves every curve on your body.
