As much as we may not want to admit it, we sometimes hurt the people that we love and are really close to. This isn't to say that we're purposely trying to be insensitive or uncaring; it's just that for some reason, when it comes to love, our partners can bring out the absolute worst in us. Just why is that, anyway?

Hearing YourTango's Founder/CEO Andrea Miller, Imago Institute's Harville Hendrix and Helen Lakelly Hunt, Family Therapist Joyce Fine, LPC Jamie Simkins Rogers and the Relationship Help Doctor Dr. Rhoberta Shaler touch on the different ways that the expectations we are raised with influence our love lives made us take a step back to look at our own relationships. For starters, the 03:14 benchmark left us with some serious questions:

1. Has there ever been a time where your partner's negative traits reminded you of a family member? Just how much does our own childhood/upbringing affect the way we react to certain issues?
2. Is it really possible for you and your partner to work things out when all you seem to do is fight?

There's no doubt that we all want to bring out the best in our significant others without having to cause any drama to get there. But that's easier said than done. In spite of this, the advice that our experts offer in this video just proves that it is possible to work things out and get your relationship back on track.
