Having a strong weapon early on in the game can make your life a lot easier in Fallout 4, especially when your trying to discover lots of new locations before you level you.
One of these helpful weapons is the Mini-Gun. It can be found in numerous locations in the game, but one spot, the "USAF Satellite Station Olivia", is not far away from your starting point and doesn't require any special skill or level.
Look for a huge satellite dish and go down into the station, using the small building next to the satellite. Follow the path and you will soon come across some Raiders. One will have the Mini-Gun equipped, that belongs to you now.
