WASHINGTON — The FBI is standing by its earlier decision that no criminal charges should be brought against Hillary Clinton for using a private email server for government work.
The Feds dropped a bombshell on Oct. 28 by announcing they were examining a trove of emails linked to Hillary found on former Congressman Anthony Weiner’s computer.
But on Sunday, less than two weeks after that announcement, FBI director James Comey said it was a false alarm, so actually, er, never mind.
Donald Trump got a boost in the polls when the bureau said it was investigating the new batch of Hillary emails. But now that she’s in the clear, Clinton once again looks like she will become the next U.S. president.
Trump complained that it was impossible to review 650,000 emails in just eight days, CNN reported. He also repeated his belief that Hillary was being protected by a rigged system.
The FBI said it reached its conclusion so quickly because most of the emails in the new probe were personal or duplicates of those already seen.
