Having major problems with ATI 5850 crossfire - Help wanted\r
\r
PC desctiption\r
--------------\r
Asus Maximus İ Formula\r
Core i7 860\r
Geil 4GB DDR3\r
Enermax Galaxy 850W\r
Sapphire ATI 5850\r
XFX ATI 5850\r
\r
Problem dectription\r
-------------------\r
Besides what you see in the video, Crossfire is reported enabled in Catalyst but \r
\r
it doesnt work. It doesnt work regardless of the PC being overclocked or at \r
\r
stock. These samples were recorded with everything at stock speeds, with \r
\r
Catalyst 9.12 Hotfix installed.\r
\r
Catalyst 9.11 produces the same results as the 9.12 which are glitches in some \r
\r
games and zero scaling in all games or even lower performance than one card.\r
\r
\r
What I tryed so far\r
-------------------\r
Each card on each own works fine. Each card works fine, regardless of the slot i \r
\r
slot it in or what cables of the PSU I use to power them, as long as it is the \r
\r
only card in the system. That means that all power rails work fine too! My PSU \r
\r
has different rails for each graphic card.\r
\r
Driver uninstallation, cleaning with driver sweeper and driver reinstallation. \r
\r
The same thing happens all the time, in both at 9.11 and 9.12 and 9.12 hotfix.\r
\r
Tryed my Vista64 installation. Fuck. The same happens in that OS too!\r
\r
Tryed with OC settings and BIOS reset. Again nothing.\r
\r
Rechecked my temperatures. They are fine. Heck the damn thing glitches right \r
\r
from the start.\r
\r
When I disable Crossfire through Ç the single card works fine.\r
\r
I tryed switching primary with secondary card. Nothing changed and again when \r
\r
disabling crossfire, the primary card (whichever it is XFX or Sapphire) works \r
\r
fine.\r
\r
I tryed using one or two Crossfire ribbons.\r
\r
\r
Any more suggestions? As a last resort, I will install them on my Q9550 rig to \r
\r
see if the same happens. If the same thing happens there is some incompatibility \r
\r
between the two cards.\r
\r
If there will be no issue, then there is something wrong with my CPU or mobo, \r
\r
but wouldnt it pop up its ugly head even when one card was installed on the \r
\r
secondary slot? I mean if it was a cpu on die PCIe controller issue, then it \r
\r
would be a problem of the secondary slot, since the primary slot works ok \r
\r
anyway. The same goes for the mobo. If the second slot had a problem, it would \r
\r
work when one card was installed!\r
\r
Any suggestions?
