The Lanterns that lead you to the Railroad, can be pretty tricky to follow. Go out at night so you can see them from far away and follow the guide.
The Lamps will lead you through a good portion of the city and you will come across a couple of enemies, but nothing really big. Although, you want to avoid going near the swamp where you find the first lamp.
