The Clinton campaign came under scrutiny due to its purchase of advertising airtime on The Weather Channel. The campaign has since requested its ads not be aired in Florida until Hurricane Matthew passes.

The Clinton campaign came under scrutiny this week due to its purchase of advertising airtime on The Weather Channel.
CNN reports that spots were scheduled to begin on Thursday and run for 5 days, but the campaign requested they be delayed in Florida until Hurricane Matthew passes.
Prior to the temporary suspension of ads, news of The Weather Channel time reservations was met with criticism.
Some viewed the move as opportunistic, as the hurricane’s arrival on the southeastern U.S. coast will no doubt increase area viewership of the channel.
On Wednesday, Jeb Bush tweeted a link to an article regarding the airtime purchase and wrote, “I encourage both presidential campaigns to be sensitive to all affected by Hurricane #Matthew in the coming days.”
Eric Trump spoke on the matter as well, calling the Clinton campaign’s move “evil and sick” and noting that his father will, “win Florida in a landslide."
