I work in insurance/reinsurance and the rates on catastrophe business have been tanking for a while now thanks to what's considered to be an extended benign period of the last 5 years (ish) when it comes to flood, storm, earthquake etc.

[] Not only does he start "cooking" to provide for his family when he is gone, but he is almost IMMEDIATELY offered a much higher paying legitimate job where they will happily pay for all of his cancer treatments and he can take as much time off as he needs for recovery. It might take him a few seasons before he's intentionally causing problems instead of fixing them, but he's handed a golden parachute all the way back in season one and refuses it on pride.
