"The Atom Station" by Halldor Laxness was first published in 1948. This Icelandic author was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1955.
It was for the first time in the history of Iceland that the first print run of any novel sold out on the day of its publication. "The Atom Station" soon became very popular there.
