The statements that promote homosexuality and which are in contradiction with the Quran should be omitted from the books that are supposedly written by Mawlana Rumi

ADNAN OKTAR: Some people cannot get their heads around the issue of Jalal ad-Din Rumi, so we should prepare a movie about this and tell it by presenting the images of the book and the sources. What is vital here is to show the original editions. Because they claim that these statements were either altered or added in the new editions. It will be very effective if we use as sources the 300 or 400-year-old editions and the books published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of National Education.

Rumi has some wonderful quotes as well. We do not say that his books are full of irreligious statements from cover to cover, but there are some blasphemous statements scattered among the pages which would make a person an unbeliever. This is what we are trying to convey; otherwise, he would not wrote thousands of pages full of blasphemous expressions and even if he did, no one would respect his words. But there are some statements of Rumi that seem to promote homosexuality, Darwinism, misogyny. There are some statements where he claims his books are superior then the Quran. He says that he receives knowledge directly from God, thus claiming his writings are superior to the Quran, and he states "We can do without Islam." These are troublesome statements. He says "Our path is neither related to Islam nor irreligion"; what does that mean? In that case, everything he has ever done will be in vain and hold no merit. This is what we mean. Otherwise, we do not claim that Rumi never mentions God or the prophets. It might not be Rumi himself who wrote such statements. We are referring to whoever scattered such expressions among the pages. If you mix one milligram of curare poison or one milligram of arsenic into a liter of milk, it would still be sufficient to kill a person. And you still say that such statements are in the few. Even a few can ruin the whole body, so they should be removed. If those few deviant expressions are removed from the books, then I will be content with it.

Moreover, they should consider the fact that the majority of the atheists around the world are followers of Rumi's philosophy. The vast majority of the authors of the books that criticize Islam, the Quran are followers of the Rumi's philosophy. This fact should help them better understand the problem. Additionally, we do not claim it was Rumi who said these; we refer to whomever wrote this book.
