A number of government offices are investigating the situation.
According to the Associated Press, on Thursday, it was disclosed to a congressional committee that no less than 18 employees at Yosemite have filed complaints.
Yellowstone is also the subject of an examination, as a number of workers in its maintenance department say they’ve endured being sexually harassed by some superiors for years.
Other national parks accused of management misconduct include the Grand Canyon and Florida’s Canaveral National Seashore.
Many committee members had harsh words regarding the Park Service’s poor response to such complaints, both currently and historically.
Representative Elijah Cummings recalled that a similar task force was assembled 16 years ago for the same reason and noted none of the recommendations made at that time were ever put into action.
Jonathan Jarvis, Park Service Director, assured that this time all substantiated claims will result in, “disciplinary action.”
