Kenting National Park, a popular beach and nature area at the southernmost tip of Taiwan, was hit by torrential rains and wind from Super Typhoon Meranti on Wednesday, September 14. The storm has been classified as a Category 5 hurricane, as well as the strongest storm of 2016. The footage shows various areas within the park experiencing gusts of wind, rain, and large waves.
In anticipation of the storm’s arrival, at least 11 domestic flights within Taiwan were cancelled on September 13, while railway operations along the southern tip of the island have reportedly been temporarily suspended. Credit: YouTube/Guillermo Santana
