Poem and Painting - Mask of Transparent Lies - Written, Painted and Presented by Christopher English

2016-09-07 1

This painting shows a story:

A sailor arrives home to greet his lover on the seashore harbour, he is sure of himself hidden behind a mask, he holds flowers in his hands to hide a lie. In his boat he hides another lover, she is hidden behind a sail that is also a veil; both women are pregnant. The boat mast becomes a gallows; this is where the sailor hangs himself (metaphorically) when he has nowhere to hide after his secret becomes clear.
