Alligators are incredibly strong, so if a person is going out in hopes of capturing one, they’d better be prepared for a fight.
Tiffany Wienke of Vicksburg, Mississippi and her crew of 6 hunters struggled for hours to get their giant reptile to shore, but the effort paid off in the form of a record-setting catch, reports The Clarion‑Ledger.
Measuring 13 feet and 7 7/8 inches, the gator won the title of longest caught in Mississippi public waters.
There were many moments when it seemed that bringing the behemoth creature in was not going to happen, notes CBS News.
However, despite a near escape, broken lines, and lengthy battles, the gator was pulled onto the boat about 2 hours after the first attempt to reel it in was made.
