In the late 1970s, 8-year-old Italian expat Laura Giannatempo took a family roadtrip through the National Parks of the American southwest. The trip made an indelible impression on her, changing, indirectly, the course of her life. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Parks Service, she recreated that trip with her own 8-year-old son Luca, hoping it would have an equally profound effect on him.
