Aug 21, 2016 – Northern Territory police are investigating after three crocodiles were found dumped at a school near Darwin.
THREE malnourished female saltwater crocodiles were found dumped at Taminmin High School on Sunday morning.

It is understood four people took the crocs from a crocodile farm, then threw them into a classroom at Taminmin College at Humpty Doo after breaking into the school.

The intruders smashed their way into the rural school’s front office about 30km south of Darwin leaving the unexpected packages ranging in size from 1.5 to 2m.

Alarms alerted the school caretaker who called police about 5am.

Rangers said they had their muzzles bound with cable ties and it is a serious case of animal cruelty.

“They should have a lot of flesh on around the neck you can see their spine showing, their bones showing, really poor skin condition and one of them is also blind,” Wildlife ranger Luke McLaren told 9NEWS.

“It is a major offence to take or interfere with protected species and the people responsible could face a $50,000 find or 5 years in prison,” he said.
