Several people have been rescued after a fire broke out at a shopping mall in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, on Sunday (August 21) although no casualties have been reported.
Shoppers and workers fled the Bashundhara City mall, the city's second largest, as smoke and flames spread through parts of the building.
Some media reports said the fire started on the fifth or sixth floor of the 21-storey building, possibly in a shoe shop.
Bangladesh Fire Brigade Director Shakil Newaz Khan said the cause may have been an electrical fault but an investigation would be carried out to establish if that was the case.
Shakil Newaz Khan, a director of Bangladesh Fire Brigade told reporters that so far 8 people were rescued and a number of people are there.
In March 2009 a fire at the same shopping complex killed seven people.
