In late September, freelance journalist Par Gyi went missing in Mon State, eastern Burma while covering clashes between Democratic Karen Benevolent Army rebels and government troops.
His disappearance sparked a desperate search, lead by his wife, Ma Thandar.
One month later a notice appeared in Burmese state media. It advised that Par Gyi had been shot by the Burmese army as a suspected member of the DKBA.
Ma Thandar's search for her husband was over.
Her journey to justice was just beginning.
This is her story.
