An electrical problem at Virar station on Mumbai’s western line resulted in a minor fire on Tuesday evening.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred around 6:50 pm, when the electric supply failed in the signal cable box at Virar railway station in Thane. The short circuit subsequently resulted in a signal failure and a minor fire at the station’s platform number
No casualties were reported as of 7:40 pm. The presence of railway police at the station also helped ensure that commuters stayed away from the risk-prone area.
