U.S. Olympic swimmer Jimmy Feigen, who was part of the group that claimed they were robbed at gunpoint in Rio, agreed to donate 35,000 reals, or around $10,800, to a Brazilian charity to avoid prosecution.
Feigen's passport will be returned to him and, once he makes the payment, he can head back to the United States.
According to the Associated Press, Brazilian law allows donations to avoid criminal prosecution for minor offenses.
