A bride and groom’s first dance is always an important wedding event, but for Marietta, Georgia’s Jaquie Goncher, it was truly monumental.

A bride and groom’s first dance is always an important wedding event, but for Marietta, Georgia’s Jaquie Goncher, it was truly monumental.
At the age of 17, she was paralyzed after a dive into a pool went wrong and has spent much of the 8 years since in a wheelchair, notes WGNTV.
When her now-husband proposed last summer, she set her sights on being able to walk down the aisle, stand during the ceremony, and take the traditional spin on the dance floor.
Against staggering odds, she attained every one of those goals.
Preparation involved intense physical therapy and a challenging core strengthening regimen she performed at home.
Throughout the exhausting preparations, she kept her efforts and hopes a secret as she wanted to surprise her guests.
On May 22, that is exactly what she did.
The beautiful wedding moments were captured by Love Stories by Halie + Alec and the photos can be seen on Instagram and the photographers' website here.
