Forty-five injured after firecrackers spark panic in southern France

As many forty-five people have been injured in a French holiday resort close to Nice (20k) after firecrackers prompted panic.

Cafe tables were overturned and glasses smashed as people fled through the streets of Juan-Les-Pins fearing an attack was underway.

France has been under emergency law since gunmen and suicide bombers killed 130 people in Paris in November.

Last month, a Tunisian drove his truck into Bastille Day celebrations in Nice, killing 85 people, and two Islamist militants murdered an elderly priest.
