Pakistan army is sharing the responsibility of holding free and fair elections for the AJK Legislative Assembly today.

At least 37,000 security troops are performing special election duties on 5,427 polling stations across AJK out of which 1,400 have been declared sensitive by authorities.

Election material has been sent to the 29 constituencies of AJK and 12 other seats of Kashmiri refugees settled in Pakistan.

The army troops are being assisted by the Frontier Constabulary (FC), Punjab Constabulary and AJK police.



Polling timings

Although, polling for the AJK Legislative Assembly begun at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm today, but voters present inside the polling stations will be allowed to cast their votes even after that time.

Chief of the Election Commission in Azad Kashmir, Ghulam Mustafa Mughal has said that all political parties must refrain from violating law and order during the AJK major polls today.
