1st Lt. Anais Tobar was in the United Arab Emirates as part of the Operation Inherent Resolve, an anti-ISIS initiative.
The investigation into her passing is ongoing, notes the Miami Herald.
Six airmen from the military branch notified Tobar’s family.
Col. Christopher Sage with Tobar’s squadron offered condolences, saying, “The entire base joins me in sending our deepest sympathies to the Tobar family during this period of bereavement. The bonds that tie the Air Force family together are strong, both down-range and at home station. This tragedy affects us all; put your arm around those who are grieving, both personally and professionally.”
